In a report published by Bloomberg Businessweek, it has been revealed that several high-profile celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Leonardo DiCaprio, have been questioned by the FBI in relation to its investigation into Jho Low, the disgraced Malaysian financier accused of embezzling millions from the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) government fund.

Hollywood Stars Quizzed by the FBI

Kardashian reportedly spent a night playing baccarat with Low in a private room at a Las Vegas casino in 2019. After winning big, Low allegedly allowed Kardashian to keep the $350,000 in chips and gave her a trash bag filled with $250,000 in one-hundred dollar bills. The reality TV star first encountered Low in 2009 when he paid her $50,000 to appear at his birthday party in a Las Vegas nightclub.

Low, who is currently an international fugitive, is accused of being the mastermind behind the fraud scheme that embezzled millions from the 1MDB fund. While he did not have an official position within the fund, the US authorities believe that he was heavily involved in the scandal. His reputation for partying in Las Vegas with celebrities, spending big money on art and real estate, and even backing the film “The Wolf of Wall Street” starring Leonardo DiCaprio has come under scrutiny.

If it is proven that the money Kardashian received from Low was stolen, she may have to hand it over to the authorities. Najib Razak, Malaysia’s former prime minister who was in charge of the 1MDB fund at the time of the scandal, was sentenced in 2018 to 12 years in prison for his involvement in the embezzlement of $700m from the fund.

The investigation into Jho Low and his alleged involvement in the 1MDB scandal continues, and it remains to be seen what consequences, if any, will be faced by the celebrities who have been questioned by the FBI.
