Chop Chop, outside, edges Towhead in the Juvenile Fillies Stakes at rain-soaked Kentucky Downs
The Fanduel Meet at Kentucky Downs is underway, featuring some of the nation’s largest purses and field sizes, and one of the most attractive wagering menus on the racing calendar. The Paulick Report’s Longshot Look will help you get the most out of one of North America’s premier turf meets.
For each card of the meet, J.D. Fox will single out a price play with his reasoning for what makes the horse worth a look when they might go overlooked.
On Monday’s makeup card for Sunday’s rained-out races, J.D. will focus on a horse in Race 1, a 6 1/2-furlong claiming race. His pick has some back class at Kentucky Downs that could come in handy during his return visit.
J.D.’s “Scratch Saver” pick comes in Race 4, a 1 5/16-mile allowance, where he’ll have his eye on #10 Setna the Wise.
This is an easier spot than his previous start in an optional claiming race at Saratoga, where this horse finished second going 1 1/8 miles on the turf. Senta the Wise should benefit from extra distance, and has ran twice on Good rated courses and held his own.
Kentucky Downs’ 2022 meet takes place Sept. 1, 3, 5, 8, 10, 11, and 14. First post each day is at 12:25 p.m. Central, except for the Saturday, Sept. 10 card, which features a special start time of 11:30 a.m. Central.
