In Summary:
- Pragmatic Play hires Javier Samel to lead Argentinian efforts
- IGaming is quickly developing in the country and Buenos Aires
- Pragmatic Play teamed up with BPlay previously
Pragmatic Play is bringing Javier Samel as the company’s new director for Argentina. As the iGaming market in the country is poised to continue expanding rapidly, Pragmatic has not hesitated to establish a local representation and enhance its ties with the region.
Pragmatic Play Fully Committed to LatAm
Samel is a particularly apt hire as he has served in similar positions, notably as head of business development for the Latin American region at SportingTech. He also worked as operation manager for Grupo Boldt’s Online Gaming Unit.
His overall experience of 12 years makes him a great addition to Pragmatic’s team on the ground and gives the supplier a better look at local developments as the company pursues stronger results. Pragmatic Play VP for Latin America Victor Arias welcomed the new hire:
“Javier has a wealth of experience across LatAm and we’re very pleased to welcome him to our growing team. Focusing on Argentina, it’s a market we’re looking to grow rapidly in and can’t wait to get started.”

With Buenos Aires green-lighting iGaming in the market, Pragmatic Play has been able to pivot strongly towards the region. However, to be able to deploy its full array of solutions, including virtual sports, slots, and live casino, the company needs and help establish strong rapports with regional behemoths who can push the Pragmatic Play portfolio with millions of potential customers.
The company teamed up with BPlay at the end of 2021 in order to expand its reach in the Buenos Aires market. Earlier in January this year, the company hired Irina Cornides as its new chief operating officer, who will preside over the company’s further growth. Overall, it has been a strong year for Pragmatic, with Latin America remaining a focus, following a deal with Odibets in East Africa.
