Dan “Jungleman” Cates doesn’t do things by half and when he decided to challenge two of the WSOP’s greatest legends – Phil Hellmuth and Shaun Deeb – to a “street fight”, he didn’t mince his words.
As far as challenges go, it was a fairly brutal one, Cates describing Hellmuth and Deeb as “bitches” in a follow-up tweet as he sought to get a rise from the pair.
“Defend your turf @phil_hellmuth and @shaundeeb or SIT DOWN like the bitches you are! That’s right, I’m challenging you to a STREET FIGHT.”
It seems that Cates was referencing the upcoming Tag Team $1k buy-in tournament, event #59 at the WSOP which sees teams of two, three or four compete. Cates announced he has Vegas nightlife mover-and-shaker – and former November Niner – Jay Farber in his corner.
“Bring your best bad boy outfits… on our side I’m bringing the trash talk and fake tats, @JayFarber is bringing the real badboyness and swag.”
Deeb, always happy to fight his corner on social media, quickly picked up the gauntlet, though it was almost guaranteed to reduce the level of discussion to the gutter.
The exchange deserves to be seen in full, if only to highlight what some of the biggest names in the game get up to when they’re not in an actual poker hand!
Deeb: “Jay would rather be on my squad than yours kid. You aren’t filming a little commercial in a 3rd world country anymore.”
Cates: “You’re right that it can’t be a little commercial but not because of not being in a 3rd world country pops. The “Big Bang” is gonna have a whole new meaning when I’m done with you.”
Deeb: “Hope you got a step ladder in your arsenal so your monkey arms can reach my face.”
Cates: “You know what, I’m being a little harsh. Tell me where you’re staying so I can order you a box of tampons after you get over not being able to defend your manhood.”
Deeb: “Did you ask daddy falcons for permission first before using twitter.”
Cates: “Lucky you, this just in… You could be in the next commercial, we just have to check to make sure we have wide lens cameras/panorama mode.”
After an “autism” dig by Deeb, the tit-for-tat continued, Cates reminding people how he created his bankroll.
Cates: “McDonald’s… even back then I was still serving your ass! (Literally, French fries and burgers)
Deeb: “Where you started is where you end up.”
Cates: “Oh yeah? How you gonna do that Burger Tits?”
We’ll find out this coming Sunday when the tag team event kicks off for real, although with the prestigious $50k Poker Player’s Championship starting the same day perhaps that would be a better test of everyone’s streetfighting capabilities.
