Updated 2022 World Series Odds –

As Major League Baseball begins its second half, it’s time for a look at the updated 2022 World Series odds. There aren’t many surprises at the top, but there are a handful of teams making some serious noise in the American League and National League playoff race.

The New York Yankees at 64-30 have the best record in baseball and sit atop the betting board at +325. The Dodgers (61-30) are right on the Yankees’ heels and are listed at +375 to win it all in 2022. If you remember last season, the World Series champion Atlanta Braves were below .500 at the All-Star break and nowhere near the favorites to win it all last year. Could that happen again in 2022?

Houston

The Astros have the second-best record in the AL at 61-32. They just started the second half by taking a doubleheader from the Yankees. That gives Houston a 5-2 record against New York this season. Yordan Alvarez (.309, 27 HR, 63 RBI) is an MVP candidate and five players have at least 12 home runs.

The pitching staff is outstanding led by Cy Young candidate Justin Verlander (12-3, 1.89). Framber Valdez, Jose Urquidy, and Luis Garcia each have eight wins and the Astros combined 2.99 ERA is the best in the majors. That’s why there is value on the Astros at +550 to win this year’s World Series.

The Mets

New York leads the NL East and they played a good portion of the first half of this season without two of the best pitchers in baseball – Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom. Scherzer is back and he’s 6-1 with a 2.22 ERA. deGrom has yet to pitch, but if he comes back that only makes the Mets better.

Pete Alonso has 24 home runs and the Mets hit a collective .252. The lineup is solid, the pitching rotation is strong, and the Mets are given +750 odds to win this year’s World Series at top rated online sportsbooks.

Defending Champs

Acuna and the Bravos are +1000 to repeat

The only other MLB team given better than +1000 odds is Atlanta. The Braves started slowly in 2022 and are now 2.5 games behind the Mets. Atlanta has won 10 of its last 14 games and their roster may be even better than last year’s.

Remember, neither Ronald Acuna Jr. nor Marcell Ozuna were on the Braves postseason roster last year. Both are now and the Braves will get Ozzie Albies back in the second half. Michael Harris is the favorite to win the NL Rookie of the Year. His competition comes from his teammate, pitcher Spencer Strider (4-3, 3.03). Max Fried (10-3, 2.64) and Kyle Wright (11-4, 2.95) give the Braves two elite pitchers and when you add in veteran Charlie Morton and Ian Anderson you get one of the best rotations in baseball.

This is a team built for another championship. That’s why the Braves are short money to win the 2022 World Series.

Toronto & Tampa Bay

Vlad the Impaler going deep

The AL East is loaded. The Yankees, of course, sit at the top of the division. Tampa Bay and Toronto are separated by a 1.5 games in second and third place, respectively. The Rays (+3300) have the better pitching led by AL Cy Young favorite Shane McClanahan. Toronto has the better hitters led by Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (.271, 20 HR, 57 RBI).

Alek Manoah (10-4, 2.28) is the ace of the pitching staff, but it drops off after that. Jose Berrios is 7-4 but has a 5.22 ERA. Kevin Gausman has a spectacular 2.87 ERA, but he’s only 6-7. Still, Toronto is listed at +1800, just outside the top four teams on the board.

The Outlier

The Seattle Mariners were 21-28 at the end of May. They have won 14 straight games and now own the AL’s third wild card spot. Julio Rodriguez is the overwhelming favorite to win the AL Rookie of the Year and the Mariners pitching staff is quietly improving each time out. They are a huge longshot, but the Mariners at +4000 make for an interesting World Series bet.
