Where to Watch/Listen: Runhappy Travers Week 2022

Where to Watch/Listen: Runhappy Travers Week 2022

One of the biggest weekends in North American horse racing is coming up, highlighted by a spectacular Saturday Aug. 27 racecard at Saratoga Race Course that is anchored by the 153rd edition of the Runhappy Travers Stakes.

The “Mid-Summer Derby,” which features a rematch between the top three finishers of the Kentucky Derby Presented by Woodford Reserve – Rich Strike, Epicenter, and Zandon – is the centerpiece of a card that also features five other graded stakes races, including the Resorts World Casino Sword Dancer Stakes, a “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series qualifier for the Longines Breeders’ Cup Turf.

Two other Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series races will be held during a very busy weekend: the Pat O’Brien Stakes Saturday at Del Mar, a “Win and You’re In” qualifier for the Big Ass Fans Breeders’ Cup Dirt Mile; and the Ballerina Stakes Sunday Aug. 28 at Saratoga, a Challenge Series prep for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint.

The Travers Stakes will be shown live nationwide on FOX as part of an hour and a half telecast carved out from NYRA’s “Saratoga Live” show presented by America’s Best Racing. “Saratoga Live” will air all day Saturday covering the entire card at Saratoga on FS2 and FS1 before and after the FOX segment. As usual, the show will also cover the rest of the Saratoga racecards from Wednesday to Sunday – check the below schedule for air times.

The Pat O’Brien Stakes will air live on TVG along with the rest of Del Mar’s Saturday card. TVG will also show racing from Del Mar, Gulfstream Park, Monmouth Park, Ellis Park, Woodbine and other tracks as per its usual schedule. The Friday Aug. 26 evening racecard from Charles Town Races, highlighted by the Charles Town Classic Stakes, will be shown on TVG.

Horse racing from tracks around the world is available to subscribers on Racetrack Television Network (RTN), which can be livestreamed on all devices (computer, tablet and smartphone) and on TV via DISH Network, Amazon Fire and Roku.

For livestreaming content, “Saratoga Saturdays” returns Saturday Aug. 27 at 9 a.m. ET. Presented by NYRA Bets, the show is hosted by Jonathon Kinchen and Anita Marks and will preview the Travers Stakes and other big races from the Aug. 27 card at the Spa. “Saratoga Saturdays” runs each Saturday through Sept. 3 and is available on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels as well as Jonathon’s Twitter account and Anita’s Twitter account.

The popular “La Trifecta” returns Thursday evening Aug. 25 at 8 p.m. ET. Presented en Español, “La Trifecta” is hosted by Darwin Vizcaya, Claudia Spadaro, and Annise Montplaisir. This week’s show will be broadcast on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube channels.

Lastly, Darwin Vizcaya from “La Trifecta” will host a Spanish-language livestream Saturday morning on-site from Saratoga. “La Antesala del Travers Stakes” will be co-hosted by Emanuel Aguilar and Carlos Martin and will be livestreamed at 8 a.m. ET on ABR’s Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube channels.
