Wild Card: Cowboys vs 49ers Betting Preview & Pick – NFL Playoffs Odds

It seems just like yesterday was the beginning of the NFL season and here we are ready to start the playoffs this weekend. Our matchup is the #3 and #6 seeds, the Dallas Cowboys, and the San Francisco 49ers. This game kicks off at 4:40 ET Sunday and will be broadcasted on CBS.

The San Francisco 49ers come in as the third team of the NFC West. They battled hard all season in the toughest division in football and a Week 18 win at Los Angeles, sealed the deal for a postseason appearance. They face a tough test on the road this week at Dallas as Cowboys fans will be ready to go for this playoff game.

The Dallas Cowboys come in as winners of the NFC East. They held off the Eagles this season who also made the playoffs in the last playoff spot. Dak Prescott and a competent defense make all the difference in the world for the Cowboys. They swept the division this year, not losing a single game. That being said, let’s take a look at our preview for the upcoming match between the Cowboys and 49ers so you can bet against the NFL Playoffs odds.

NFL Betting Analysis for Dallas Cowboys versus San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers Notes

It has been a whirlwind of a season for the San Francisco 49ers. Things did not start well for the 49ers after a 2-4 start to the season. After the bad start, the 49ers were faced with all sorts of questions about the future of Jimmy Garoppolo and Kyle Shanahan. As they say though, winning fixes a lot.

In the second half of the season, the 49ers won quite a bit. They won seven of their last nine games of the season, making the push for the wild card spot in the playoffs. Jimmy Garoppolo has thrown for 3,810 yards this season with 20 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.

Deebo Samuel has been a big part of the success this season for the 49ers with his speed leading the way. Samuel was a very impressive player in college but is really taking off here in the NFL. This season, Samuel has 1,405 receiving yards with six touchdowns.

The difference-maker for the 49ers in this game will have to be the defense. The defense will have to lead the way because the offense does not score a lot of points.

Dallas Cowboys Notes

It was another good season for the Dallas Cowboys, a much-improved team from a year ago. Looking back to last season, we knew what was wrong and where the struggles were coming from, the quarterback position. Getting Dak Prescott back from injury would fix a lot of the issues on that side of the ball.

The main issues for the Dallas Cowboys were centered on the defense. Last season it was one of the worst defenses in Dallas history. They were last in forced turnovers and gave up the most yardage. This season they have really turned it around and Trevon Diggs has been a big part of the change. Diggs has given up the most yardage by a cornerback but he has more interceptions this season than the Cowboys did all last year.

This game depends on what the Dallas team decides to show up. Dallas has been a very streaky team this season and it would be disappointing for them not to show up in this game. Dallas will need to slow down the passing attack by the 49ers and move the ball themselves. They have a tough task with the 49ers’ defense, but nothing they cannot handle.
