YouTube star Brian Davis, AKA True Geordie, has had his contract with PokerStars torn up after he made inflammatory comments regarding Andrew Tate’s conversion to Islam. The podcaster and social media influencer have been exchanging insults in recent months and Davis’s recent off-the-cuff remark during his show has seen his reputation shredded.

One podcast viewer asked if Davis would be willing to get in the ring with Tate to which Davis’s co-host responded that Tate would win because he has God on his side now. Davis responded that he would “…gladly blow myself up if I could take that shitbag with me.”

He followed up, adding:

“If he wants to prove it [a reference to Tate’s conversion] he should do the right thing.”

PokerStars and Gymshark Drop True Geordie

The reaction was almost instant. PokerStars quickly tweeted a statement saying it had terminated Davis’s contract.
“We have terminated our contract with True Geordie with immediate effect. At PokerStars, we are committed to making poker as inclusive and accessible as possible, and do not tolerate any comments or attitudes that don’t align with our inclusive values.”

PokerStars wasn’t the only channel sponsor to drop Davis with immediate effect. Fitness apparel company Gymshark also tweeted that it had suspended its relationship with Davis indefinitely effective immediately.

For those not in the know, Andrew Tate was recently canceled from most social media platforms for his opinions on how men and women should behave. It hasn’t gone unnoticed that racism is usually the worst transgression on social media in today’s world and yet Brian Davis has kept his YouTube and Twitch channels.

Replying to PokerStars’ tweet, one poster said:

“Well done, total respect to you. It is about time @Twitch and @YouTube did the same, shame on them for keeping him on, tells you all you need to know about those platforms keeping him going.“

True Geordie Apologises

Davis was quick to post an apology video that looked sincere.

“I made a joke in questioning that ‘newfound faith’ of his, that conveniently comes at a time when he needs as many supporters as he can get. It was a stupid joke. When I say that out loud, when I’m aware of it, f**king horrendous. It was one of those off-the-cuff remarks I made with a total lack of thought, and I used an unrealistic stereotype to take aim at someone who seriously dislikes me. Obviously I don’t believe that’s what Muslims actually do. It was a very stupid thing to say. It was an idiotic joke – one I’m sorry.”

Andrew Tate Responds

Tate also responded publicly, accusing Davis of insulting an entire religion.
“After me converting to Islam, he made a piece on one of his podcasts saying I’m not true in my conversion, and then insulted all Muslims.
Making racist comments about an entire religion as if that’s somehow funny.
Let me tell you something my friend, and True Geordie if you are watching this, this is a message directly to you.
To insult my religion, and the religion of billions of people across the planet, making ignorant jokes about blowing ourselves up, thinking it’s going to go without consequence, you’re going to learn very quickly my friend that was a mistake.”

Not the First Time…

As much of a calamity as this is for Brian Davis’s career, he found himself in a similar situation three years ago after a series of explicit messages was leaked online. Channel sponsors also walked on that occasion too.

But he came back strong, even recently exceeding the two million subscribers mark on YouTube. That said, he’s going to have to learn to stop putting his foot in his mouth to avoid further trouble.

There was even a recent spat with world heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury when Davis suggested that his choice of opponent for his next bout wasn’t good enough. Check out the clip below to see Fury’s reaction to Davis’s comments.
